2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5: Up to 499km Range, New XRT with NACS Port
September 27 2024,
Hyundai has introduced significant upgrades to its 2025 IONIQ 5 electric vehicle lineup, including the debut of the rugged new XRT variant. The refreshed models boast increased range, improved features, and enhanced performance, catering to a wider range of Canadian drivers.
The standout addition is the IONIQ 5 XRT, designed for adventure enthusiasts. This model will be the first Hyundai in Canada manufactured at the new Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) facility in Georgia. The XRT variant comes equipped with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, granting access to over 17,000 Tesla Superchargers without an adapter.
Powertrain improvements are a key highlight of the 2025 lineup. The standard range models now feature a 63.0 kWh battery, while long-range versions see an increase from 77.4 kWh to 84 kWh. These enhancements translate to impressive range estimates, with AWD options expected to exceed 402 km and RWD models surpassing 499 km.
The XRT model stands out with its rugged design elements, including digital camouflage cladding, black 18-inch wheels, and a 23mm suspension lift. It also offers increased towing capacity of up to 5,834 pounds and improved off-road angles, making it suitable for more adventurous driving.
Inside, all 2025 IONIQ 5 models receive notable upgrades. A new 12.3-inch audio/video navigation system is introduced, along with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The interior layout has been optimized for better ergonomics, with redesigned HVAC controls and a new center console.
Safety features have been bolstered across the range. New additions include Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Forward Attention Warning, and improved Parking Distance Warning systems. The vehicle's body has also been reinforced to enhance side collision protection, complemented by eight airbags for comprehensive occupant safety.
The entire 2025 IONIQ 5 lineup benefits from Over-The-Air (OTA) update capability, ensuring that vehicle systems remain current and allowing for the addition of new features remotely. This technology-forward approach extends to convenience features like the available Hyundai Digital Key 2 Premium and Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 on higher trims.
Aesthetically, the 2025 models receive subtle exterior updates, including restyled front and rear bumpers and new, more aerodynamic wheels. New colour options such as Atlas White Matte and Ecotronic Gray Matte (available on Preferred Long Range and above) provide fresh choices for buyers.
The 2025 IONIQ 5 models, including the new XRT variant, are set to arrive at Canadian Hyundai dealerships later this year, with the XRT expected in the first quarter of 2025. Pricing details will be announced closer to the launch date.
